Carnations

So glad that my husband is home late Monday night.  He's been away at a Youth Conference in Chicago with one of our interns since Thursday.  And we've had a good few days here at home - me and the kids, but it's just not the same without him here.  I really don't know how you single parents out there do it.  It's no easy job working, taking care of and getting kids where they need to go all on your own.  I feel very blessed to have my hubby.  And I don't want to take that - or him for granted.    I'm also really grateful for Skype where we can video chat each day and the kids can see him.  It helps them a lot just to see Dad, last night he could say good night to one of our sons that was still up and in his prayers last night our son was grateful to "see" Daddy and know he was ok.

I have a sunshiney warm card for you today :)  I used Jen Del Muro's monthly Sketch for this card...

And you can probably tell, I took the photo in the bright warm sunshine.  The weather may be cold but it definitely is Sunny Alberta :)    I colored up these beautiful A Year of Flowers:  Carnations from PTI with some Copic Markers (R00, R01, R02, R14, YR01).  Carnations have this very ruffly feel don't they?  So I matched up the Martha Stewart Rings Border Punch and Corner Punch on the back panel to match the effect of the carnations.

I have often seen Nichole Heady or her design team add a sparkly strip onto their cards and I just love the look so I added some Scor Tape to the right side of the focal image and added Dazzling Diamonds (as well as around the image with a Quickie Glue Pen.  I mirrored that with the ribbon on the left side and the cut end of the ribbon matches the sentiment flag.  Just little details to pull it all together.

Hope you're enjoying some sunshine in your part of the world!

Stamps:  PTI:  A Year of Flowers - Carnations,  Fillable Frames #12;  Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black;  Paper:  Whisper White, Flourishes Classic White Cardstock, Peach Parfait, Peach Parfait Patterns DSP;  Accessories:  Martha Stewart Rings Border and Corner Punch, Copic Markers, Scor Tape, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Quickie Glue Pen, White Satin Ribbon, Gems, Dimensionals.

Your Carnations are Lovely! And the trick you did with the score tape and dazzling diamonds down the side is genius... I'll have to steal that one.
