Magnolias and Ice

Welcome to the February Pre-Release Challenge at Flourishes!  Next week begins our Sneak Peeks of some gorgeous new sets that I think you will really love.  So we begin with a little challenge that we invite you in on and you have a chance to win the whole New Release!

Julie's given us an Inspiration Picture this month...these gorgeous Crocuses peeking out of the snow....and here's my take on the inspiration...

I've used this beautiful Lilac set with Magnolia's also in it.  Now having never seen a Magnolia in my corner of the world I have to put my imagination to the paper on what kind of colors you'll find...but I did find some beautiful pink and purpley magnolia images online so I think I'm good :)

From the inspiration picture....I took the color of the purple crocus for the watercolored flowers, the apricot yellow of the inside of the crocuses for the background color-wash/sponging and the sparkle and texture of the snow in the velvet metallic ribbon and the Dazzling Diamonds that I put on Scor Tape running vertically on the card, as well as the rhinestones.    I love the look of the sparkle!  I also love how the snow takes on a light purple look too - so that's the base of my card in the Amethyst color.

As you can see one of the watercolored magnolias is popped up too.

So the rest of the Design Team will wow you with some beauties today with the Inspiration picture...
And then once you're completely inspired you can join us in the Challenge and link to the Flourishes Blog, and when uploading using online galleries use the code FLLCFEB11.

Christine, wonderful layering in the sketch you created for these pretty magnolia branches. There's a magnolia tree with purplish blooms near my home. Surprising because it's not really warm enough here for them to do well. We have palm trees, too, though. Go figure. Love your spring-fresh design!
