Joy and Sorrow all Rolled Together

It seems like that happens doesn't it?  Joy and sorrow in sometimes equal measure.  I have so much to be joyful for....in fact tonight I have become an Auntie all over again!  My brother and sister-in-law have become proud parents of their second child just a few hours ago!  Praise God Mama and baby are safe and sound....but to honor their chance to tell people personally - I won't spill the beans on who it is just yet.  I hope to meet this new little one tomorrow morning :)  We are beyond joyful!

But tonight I also needed to make a sympathy card for a family I love a lot.  When I was in the US, first when I was single, and then later as a newlywed I worked at a wonderful church and the Senior Pastor's family was like my family, and are still precious friends to us.  And this weekend they had to say goodbye to his father, I know it was not unexpected, yet it is still hard this side of heaven to say goodbye.

This card is a bit unusual for me in that there is no coloring!  Straight stamping, a shock I know!  I took the pretty Verve set Dream Big and paired it with the Plain Jane set - Isaiah 61:3 (overstamped on the designer paper behind the image).  I stamped the blossom in the different sizes and popped each layer up, it makes it look like a zinnia doesn't it?   This is the Viva La Verve Sketch Week 4 at Splitcoaststampers.

I also added a gorgeous Webster's Vintage Sparklers inside of the flower, and some gorgeous velvet and crochet ribbon, and satin ribbon together.

And here is the verse on the inside of the card...."Give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning a garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness" Isaiah 61:3.  I find this verse to be such an encouragement, yes there will be times for ashes, mourning and heaviness, but God will also  - in His beautiful timing  - bring healing and hope.

Stamps:  Verve - Dream Big, Plain Jane Isaiah 61:3;  Ink:  Memento Rich Cocoa, Tangelo and Pear Tart;  Paper:  Pumpin Pie, Early Espresso, SU Designer paper, Whisper White;  Accessories:  Big Shot, Lacey Circles Nestabilities, Square Nestabilities, Slit Punch, Velvet Crochet Ribbon, Satin Ribbon, Dimensionals, Websters's Sparkler, Glue Dots, Bow Easy, Pearls.
