Carrot Icing

Well hi everyone!  How is your 2011 treating you so far?  We just cannot seem to shake these terrible colds in our house.  Ten days into it and I'm still not back to normal, but I think I'm finally improving, the coughing is finally easing.  But that's why I've been pretty quiet over here and I haven't been doing any fun blog hopping or commenting either, I hope to catch up in the days ahead.

My Dad celebrated his 73 birthday just a few days ago.  I think we all feel like it was a big birthday because earlier this fall he was in the hospital with his heart again.  He's doing considerably better and I think being in the hospital has given him a renewed gratitude for this life.

Here's what I made him :)  I bought some little The Cat's Pajamas fun for myself at Christmas and here's one of the sets  (Forget about the Cake)  .  I just loved this sentiment "You're Not Getting Older.  You're Getting A LOT older"  I thought it was so cute for my Dad....we're grateful he's getting older :)  And that cute little bunny peeking over his cake just makes me smile.

I colored it up with copics and laid it on some fun squares of patterned paper, and embossed paper, and then gave it some linen ribbon frayed a little and some twine and a button.

Thanks for popping by gang.  I appreciate your visits and comments so much!

Recipe:  Stamps:  The Cat's Pajamas - Forget about the Cake;  Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black;  Paper:  Kraft, Pumpkin Pie, Flourishes Classic White, old SU Designer papers;  Accessories:  Big Shot, Ovals Nesties, Fancy Labels Nesties, PTI Alphabet Embossing Plate, Houndstooth Embossing Folder, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Linen Twine, Button, Glue Dots, Twine, Piercer, Copic Markers.

Hope you are just about over the sickeness at your home. For all the coughing, I hear that putting Vicks on your feet will stop the coughing. Happy New Year. Hugs n' Stuff, Lynne

Love the color combo on this one -- the orange with the draft with the rustic fibers! Definitely one for the favorites column. Sorry you are all sick, we've managed to avoid much of that here -- fingers crossed! Also happy you were able to celebrate your dad's b'day -- mine had MAJOR surgery a year ago and he has announced if ANYTHING goes wrong again, he's ready to go -- no more surgery, no more hospitals.... So everyday can be a celebration now!
