Pure Poppy Summer

I used to play every week in the color challenge at SCS, just because I love the thrill of combining colors together, but a while ago we switched our day off to Tuesday, and though I love stamping, it's so nice to spend the day with my husband while the kids are at school, so I usually do :)  But, I had some time late this afternoon for some stamping and I really loved Betty's colors this week, Mellow Moss, Real Red and Barely Banana.  Not hard colors on the eyes.

I immediately thought of how fabulous red poppies look, so I pulled out this Poppy Patch set from Flourishes, and also the background from the Thank You set.

I colored the poppies with Copic Markers (R14, R27, R29, G40, G82, YG93), then masked them, sponged some pretty Barely Banana overtop and then stamped the text from the Thank You set overtop.  I've used the Mojo Monday Sketch 143, and added the pretty Gingham ribbon from the Flourishe store too, as well as the Victorian cb folder.

So, the card was all done, and then my camera died.  Small sense of panic....we came to figure out that the memory card just stopped working, so I used my husband's camera, but it takes the pics in such high resolution and I'm just not savvy on getting it to work quite right for me (thus the teeeeny tinnnny watermark!), so sorry about the odd angle.   Here's a better picture of the poppy.

The kids are stir crazy for summer.  Our daughter starts her first final tomorrow.  She's been studying so hard these past couple of weeks.  And the boys just can't wait for the freedom of summer.  Of course they'll probably be bored within the first day, but we all dream of summer right????

Thanks for dropping by!

That poppy is gorgeous, Christine! Love how you've coloured it and shaded around it with the yellow. Nice touch with the words on the tabs too. I saw this mojo sketch and ran the other way LOL!

Ahhhhh yes, summer. My kids are counting down the days. Got them pretty busy over the summer as I hate hearing "I'm bored" and there is no way they are going to be playing on the Wii and watching TV all day (mean mommy that I am LOL!). Stamping time suffers big time when the kids are home 24/7 but I love having them all to myself because before I know it they will be gone...
