Sneak Peek - Patriotism on Parade

Today's sneak peek set is a special one from Flourishes. A whole lot of heart has gone into this...read on.....

We feel very blessed that our children, and my husband are citizens of both the United States and Canada. And we try to teach our kids a love and respect of both countries, their rights, privileges and responsibilities of being American and Canadian. So this next set is really dear to me. I'll show you the cards and then tell you why it's also dear to Flourishes as well, and how you can make a difference!

In God We Trust

I find this to be one of the most profound statements that you could make of a Nation....that corporately its people Trust in God...not in things, not in prosperity or a lack of it, not in influence or might...but in God - because He is trustable! Oh that all of us could live that out!

I colored these American Flag swags with Copic markers and added a Stardust glitter pen to the stars. I popped one swag up in front. To achieve the pretty edging on the layers I used my Pierceabilities template to cut it, and then the Labels Four Die for the sentiment.

How did I do that ribbon? I took the white Organza Ribbon from SU and colored in 1/3 of the center section in stripes with my copic markers. A few rhinestones and it looks very patriotic don't you think?

And Lauren Pope didn't forget a thing when she illustrated this set....she added some Canadian elements too!

O Canada!

Part of our Canadian anthem sings "Oh Canada...our home and native land, true patriot love in all our sons command....(then further on) God keep our land glorious and free!" Now that's something to celebrate!

Now this fun children's parade is celebrating July 1st, Canada Day! I've embossed the children's parade in Real Red Craft and Clear Embossing Powder, as well as the fireworks. And then embellished them with clear rhinestones and gorgeous silk ribbon, like a flag is unfurling... This mirrors the pattern of a Canadian flag too: red white red.

And now for the special part: We know many see the Fourth of July in the US as a day of celebration to honor the United State's independence. But, as many military men and women will tell you - Freedom is not free. In times of war, soldiers come home wounded and are in need of a hand-up in life. Having deep ties to our country's military, Flourishes wanted to be a part of the solution. We are proudly donating a portion of the proceeds of our brand new Patriotism on Parade set to the Wounded Warrior Project. It's a not for profit who's mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors. We believe in the work they do and we can't wait to support this group's amazing efforts. Please click on http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/ to learn more.

All of us Flourishes girls feel very good about making a difference in this way, many of the girls have very personal stories of their connections to men and women fighting to preserve freedom.
